Course Description

Talofa lava and greetings to you all. My name is Vaaimamao (Mao) Mauga. I have been the Samoan Beginners Language course facilitator since 2022 and have been enjoying the journey. It is such a joy to see students from all walks of life achieve and exceed their goals.

In 2025, I am excited to announce that I will be introducing an extended version of the Samoan beginners language course. It is quite similar to the introductory course, however, a new concept of tumble time has been introduced. This is where the students will be given more agency and collaboration to share their thoughts and ideas. Students will even have the opportunity to do a bit of performing Arts! 

Course Prerequisite Conditions

To be eligible for this course however, you will need to have completed the Samoan Language - Beginners : Rutherford College Community Education Centre. Those students who have completed this course from 2022 till present can apply for the Samoan beginners language - extended.

Course Fee Subsidy

This course is subsided by Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) for NZ citizens and permanent migrant adults, their partners on work visas or visitor visas, and refugees. To qualify, registrants should be over the age of 16 years and not currently enrolled in a secondary school. You must provide evidence of NZ citizenship, residency, or refugee status to our staff for sighting purposes.

The tuition fee is $100 for Non-Residents.

Please note: All courses need a minimum number to go ahead. If your course does not have enough enrolments, we regret that we will have to cancel and will let you know either by email or text. Courses are usually cancelled, when necessary, 2-3 working days prior to the scheduled start date
