This 5 day workshop will give you the opportunity to work towards gaining literacy credits (reading and writing) required for work, further study and University Entrance. Spaces are limited to 12 students so enrol early to avoid missing out. Students must pre-register.

You will need a minimum of 10 literacy credits and 10 numeracy credits to achieve each level of NCEA. You only need to gain these credits once. This means that once you have gained the credits, you have already met the literacy and numeracy requirements for NCEA Levels 1, 2 and 3.

University Entrance (UE) is the minimum requirement to attend a New Zealand university. To qualify for UE, you will need all of the following:

• NCEA Level 3  - 14 credits in each of three approved subjects at Level 3.

• UE Literacy – 10 credits at Level 2 or above, made up of:

  • – 5 credits in reading
  • – 5 credits in writing.

• UE Numeracy – 10 credits at Level 1 or above

In this course the 3 common standards offered to students are:

  • 91101 – Writing Portfolio worth 6 UE Writing Credits
  • 91105 – Infomation Literacy worth 4 UE Reading Credits
  • 91106 – Wide Reading worth 4 UE Reading Credits

Check the NZQA website for the list of standards that meet these requirements  www.nzqa.govt.nz
