Course Description
Improve your English skills and work towards gaining the NCEA Level 2 (reading and writing) credits required for entry to a Tertiary Institute. On this course, the reading and writing homework are compulsory. All ākonga/ learners must be fluent in English. Towards the end of this courses all ākonga/ learners will be internally assessed. Please be advised that we cannot guarantee student's results, it is up to the student to successfully achieve NCEA English Level 2.
On successful completion of the course, please allow for 10-15 working days for the NZQA Standards to be processed. Students must be 16 years or older to be eligible to attend the course.
To achieve each level of NCEA, you will need a minimum of 10 literacy credits and 10 numeracy credits. You only need to gain these credits once. This means that once you have gained the credits, you have already met the literacy and numeracy requirements for NCEA Levels 1, 2 and 3.
University Entrance (UE) is the minimum requirement to attend a New Zealand University/ Tertiary Institute. To achieve UE Literacy , you will need all of the below credits:

Course Materials
Upon your enrolment, you shall receive a list of recommended novels and films, from which you are required to chose 2 novels to read and 2 films to watch before the course begins.
At all sessions, please bring a pen, paper. Also, please bring a digital device, such as laptop or tablet for your in-class research.
Course Prerequisites
All ākonga/ learners are required to read 2 novels and watch 2 films before the course start date.
Once you enrol, our team will send you a short survey from the tutor to answer, via email. Please complete this survey before the course start date.
Course Fee Subsidy
This course is subsided by Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) for NZ citizens and permanent migrant adults, their partners on work visas or visitor visas, and refugees. To qualify, registrants should be over the age of 16 years and not currently enrolled in a secondary school. You must provide evidence of NZ citizenship, residency, or refugee status to our staff for sighting purposes.
For Non- Resident students there will be a surcharge of NZD$20.
Please note: All courses need a minimum number to go ahead. If your course does not have enough enrolments, we regret that we will have to cancel and will let you know either by email or text. Courses are usually cancelled, when necessary, 2-3 working days prior to the scheduled start date.
