Level | Description |
Beginners | Learners have little or no exposure to English. Great difficulty understanding spoken or written English. |
Elementary | Some Basic, often inaccurate communication used, in simple familiar situations only. Often requires assistance and frequently misunderstands. |
Pre- intermediate | Coping with general meaning only in very familiar situations. Communication breaks down often |
Intermediate | Coping with general meaning in most situations, but still makes frequent mistakes. Use appropriate formality, both face-to-face and on the telephone. Inaccurate, but increasingly complex language used. |
Upper- intermediate | Despite occasional errors communicate effectively and confidently in complex and new situations. |
